Fees and Charges applicable to Standard Advantage, Gold Advantage and Twin Credit Cards

Unpaid/Returned Direct Debits: €3.17

Copy Statement Fees:
For the 1st page of each individual statement; €3.80
For each subsequent page of statement; €2.50

Cross Border Handling Fee:
A cross-border handling fee will not apply to transactions in euro. All other transactions will be subject to a cross-border handling fee of up to 1.75% of the transaction.

Cash advance Fee: 1.5% subject to a minimum of €2.54 per transaction

Government Stamp Duty: €30.00

A processing fee of 1%, minimum €1.27 and €6.35 maximum will be charged where payment to a credit card is made by foreign cheque.

Guidance on our Credit Card Facilities

To apply for a credit card you must be 18 years of age or over. We apply lending criteria when you apply for a Credit Card and we decide to approve applications for Credit Cards based on them. If we approve a Credit Card for you, terms and conditions will apply but we will make sure you have these before you commit to the facility.

Some important information to be aware of

Interest Rates and Fees and Charges

  • APR: This stands for Annual Percentage Rate which is the annual rate of interest you will be charged on a credit card it takes account of all the costs involved for the card, such as annual fees and the interest rate.
  • All rates quoted for credit cards are variable except for introductory rates and balance transfer rates which are fixed for the period of time specified.
  • Balance transfers may not be made from existing Bank of Ireland credit cards or from creditcards outside the Republic of Ireland or United Kingdom.
  • The balance transfer rateis available for a maximum period of 12 months from the date of account opening.
  • After 12 months the fixed rate of 2.9% APR onbalance transfers reverts to the standard variable rate applicable to your card.
  • Credit Cards are liable to Government Stamp duty, currently €30 per account
  • All information and rates quoted are effective as at 1st January 2012 and are subject to change
  • All Credit Card applicants must be resident in the Republic of Ireland at the time of application
  • The Principal Cardholder remains solely liable for all charges incurred by the additional cardholders.

Affinity Credit Card

Representative Example of credit card purchase at standard interest rate of 14.01% variable. Typical APR of 17.4% variable including annual Government Stamp Duty of €30. Assuming purchase of €1,500 repaid in equal instalments over a 12 month period. The total amount repayable by customer is €1,663.65 which includes initial purchase of €1,500 and a total cost of credit of €163.65

Get approved for a standard Affinity Credit Card between April and June 2012 and we'll provide comprehensive multi-trip travel insurance for you and your family for a whole year.
The insurance covers the cardholder, their spouse/partner and their children aged under 23 travelling with the insured on an Insured Journey.

Cover applies once the Insured Person has paid for at least 50% of their total fare for the Insured Journey using their Affinity Credit Card, whether that journey is for business, pleasure, worldwide or nearer to home.

The travel insurance even covers winter sports!

Annual Government stamp duty applies, currently EUR30 per annum.
