  What dates will the virtual Money Smarts Quiz Challenge events take place?

  There will be 4 virtual Money Smarts Quiz Challenge events in total between the 16th and 17th of April. Two quizzes will run each day. The first quiz on each day will begin at 9.30am followed by the second quiz at 11:30am.

  What are the prizes for the virtual Money Smarts Quiz Challenge?

  The two top scoring teams from each virtual quiz will be awarded 1st and 2nd prizes for their school. 1st prize is €3,000. 2nd prize is €1,000. So a total of 8 schools have the opportunity to win for their school in this years Money Smarts Quiz Challenge!

  There will be lots of spot prizes up for grabs too for all students participating in each of the daily virtual quizzes.

  What age group are most suitable for the virtual Money Smarts Quiz Challenge?

  Teams can be made of any students from any year, but feedback to date suggests that the quiz is maybe more suitable for senior cycle students. But you will know yourself your strongest students so it’s entirely up to you how you structure your team(s). We’re delighted to accept entries from any year aged between 12 and 19 years old to make this a truly inclusive event for all secondary school students.

  How many students can participate on each Money Smarts Quiz Challenge team?

  A maximum of four students can compete on each virtual Money Smarts Quiz Challenge team.

  How many teams can each school put forward to compete in the Money Smarts Quiz Challenge events?

  Each school can put forward a maximum of five teams of four students per team to compete in the Money Smarts Quiz Challenge events.

  What do I need to participate in the quiz?

  • Access to a TV Screen and laptop available in your school to host the virtual event
  • You must have downloaded the Socrative App to participate in this virtual quiz. The Socrative App is the App we will use to host and manage the quiz and student responses
  • iPads available (1 per team) that the Socrative App can be downloaded on
  • A suitable room on the school premises to host the virtual event in
  • Teacher/teachers available to chaperon during the virtual event

  We don’t have access to iPads/technology

  No problem, we can provide you with iPads and the equipment you need to partake in the quiz.

  How much time should I allow to attend a virtual Money Smarts Quiz Challenge event?

  You should allow a total of 2 hours to attend the virtual Money Smarts Quiz Challenge event. This gives you ample time to get set up ahead of the event and allow for any technical glitches etc. Each quiz will start at its allocated time.

  What time will the virtual Money Smarts Quiz Challenge event finish?

  Each virtual Money Smarts Quiz Challenge event should not run any longer than 45 minutes.

  If I need to change a team member after I have registered for a virtual Money Smarts Quiz Challenge or ahead of the event, what is the process?

  Once you have registered formally for a virtual Money Smarts Quiz Challenge event, you will be asked to confirm the names of the students on each team. These should be the students who then go on to compete at the virtual quiz event you’ve registered for. If there is any change to the students competing on a particular team, you will need to let us know immediately. You can do that by emailing youthbanking@boi.com

  How can we prepare for the virtual Money Smarts Quiz Challenge in advance?

  Are there completion certs available?

  Yes. Completion certs will be issued following the attendance at the Money Smarts Quiz Challenge events.

  What is the running order of the day?

  Rules for the Bank of Ireland Money Smarts Challenge

  Note: These competition rules (the “Rules”) apply to the Bank of Ireland Money Smarts Challenge (“the Competition”) organised by Bank of Ireland, Baggot Plaza, 27-33 Upper Baggot St, Dublin, D04 VX58. When the terms “we”, “us” or “our” are used in these Rules it refers to Bank of Ireland.

  General Rules

  The Competition is organised by Bank of Ireland and our decision on all matters relating to the Competition will be final.

  The Competition entry closing date is 11:59pm GMT on the 11th April 2024. Under no circumstances will late entries be accepted.

  We reserve the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the Competition for any reason outside our reasonable control if we deem it necessary.

  Each school can enter a maximum of five teams with each team consisting of four students. Second level students aged between 12-19 years on 31st January 2024, who are enrolled in a secondary school in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland are eligible to be put forward for entry by a school.

  The highest scoring two teams in each virtual event (in total eight teams) will be awarded prizes. The first prize is a prize of €3,000 to the school with the highest score as determined by us. The second prize is a prize of €1,000 to the school with the second highest score as determined by us. Discretionary prizes will be distributed to the students from the winning teams. Winning schools must present fully audited accounts on request to Bank of Ireland before prizes are distributed. If you are a winner of the Competition you may be liable to pay tax on the prize and must make your own arrangements to discharge this liability. Prizes will be electronically transferred to a bank account held in ROI or NI, in the name of Winner’s school and if applicable, at a rate of exchange set by us.

  The Competition will be held virtually. Entrants to the Competition must follow all instructions we provide. We do not accept any responsibility for any technical issues faced by an entrant during the Competition including (without limitation) lack of hardware, inability to use any of the software, loss of connectivity, or other technical breakdowns.

  Money Smarts Challenge Competition Rules

  The Competition is open to teams of students enrolled in any Secondary School in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland who submit a fully completed competition form via this link boi.com/moneysmarts before 11:59pm GMT on the 11th April 2024.

  By accepting these terms and conditions schools are confirming that they acknowledge that cheating will not be tolerated. If we become aware of any breaches, the school will be immediately disqualified from the Competition.

  Students can only win the title ‘Money Smarts Champion of the Year’ once. Please note that previous Winners are not eligible to re–enter the Competition in subsequent years.

  We do not accept responsibility for entries which are not fully completed. Entries which are incomplete (i.e. some information requested on the entry form is not provided, altered, illegible or not in accordance with these Rules) may be disqualified.

  The judging panel for the Competition will include at least one person who is independent of the promotion of the Competition. The names of those comprising the judging panel will be made available to competition entrants upon written request.

  The decision of the judges will be final and binding on all entrants and winners. Correspondence will be entered into only at the absolute discretion of Bank of Ireland.

  All entrants (“entrant” includes any person who is a member of a team that enters or attempts to enter the Competition) acknowledge that we will use, store and process their personal details to run the Competition including for publicity purposes in accordance with our Data Privacy Notice which is available at (for ROI applicants) https://www.bankofireland.com/privacy/data-protection-notice/ or (for Northern Ireland applicants) https://www.bankofirelanduk.com/site-links/privacy-notice/. All entrants agree to the use of their names and addresses and/or photographs for publicity purposes. Entrants also agree that their names and addresses may be disclosed by Bank of Ireland to its agents for the purpose of administering the Competition and/or distributing the prizes.

  Bank of Ireland reserves the right to vary and (or) substitute any/all element(s) of the prizes with prizes of similar or of greater value.

  All prizes are non-transferable.

  All entry conditions and instructions are deemed to form part of these Rules.

  Students on teams who enter the Money Smarts Challenge must be over 12 years and under 19 years on 31st January 2024, or they will be ineligible to win a prize. The winners shall, if requested by the Bank provide satisfactory proof of age before being awarded a prize.

  These Rules are governed by Irish law, and the Irish courts will have exclusive jurisdiction.
