Contact the Claims Team

What happens next?

Once you have notified Bank of Ireland Life, a Claim Form will be issued for you to complete. It may be necessary for Bank of Ireland Life to follow up with your doctor or consultant to review your medical status and obtain any medical information needed to complete the claim assessment.

Claim Appeals

Bank of Ireland Life have a strong track record in accepting and paying claims. The goal is to support customers when they need it most. There are times, however, when a difficult decision to decline a claim or pay a reduced amount needs to be made. These decisions are never made lightly— the Claims Team carefully review all of the information available to them before reaching an outcome.

This can be disappointing, and Bank of Ireland Life will always be open and supportive throughout the process. If a claim is not accepted in full, this will be clearly explained and you will be advised on how to appeal the decision if you feel it should be reviewed. Claims Assessors are available to discuss the outcome and answer any questions you or your representatives may have.

If you’ve received a decision you’re unhappy with and feel there’s additional medical or other information that might help, please share it, to ensure that any new information is reviewed as quickly as possible. This may involve contacting your doctors or other relevant professionals to get a full understanding of your situation. Once the review is complete, you’ll receive an updated claim decision in writing, along with a full explanation of the outcome.

If you’re not happy with a Claim Decision or a Claim Appeal, and you have no further information to provide, you can follow the complaints process below.
