Our online healthcare service offers doctor and physiotherapy appointments, mental health counselling, and fitness programmes.

What is BetterHealth?

BetterHealth is an online healthcare service available to our financial protection customers at no extra cost.

You and your immediate family will have access to:

  • Online GP appointments with an Irish-registered doctor.

  • Online mental health counselling with an Irish-registered psychologist.

  • Online physiotherapy consultation from qualified and experienced Irish-registered physiotherapists.

  • The Get Fit programme which includes personalised fitness and nutrition plans designed by a team of nutritional experts.

Not treated in BetterHealth:

  • Chest pain, shortness of breath, severe abdominal pain,seizures.

  • Thoughts of suicide or self-harm, confusion, loss of consciousness.

  • Severe infection, severe pain, heavy bleeding, suspected stroke.

  • Pregnancy complications, fever in an unwell infant.

  • BetterHealth is not an emergency service. This service isn't intended to replace your doctor or any health professional or to be used for ongoing care. If you are severely unwell, please contact your local emergency services.

How to access BetterHealth

  1. Register through our portal with your policy number, or

  2. Download the “BetterHealth from Bank of Ireland Life” app from the App Store or Google Play. To access the service, they will need your policy number.

Online doctor appointments

Are you or a member of your family not feeling well?

This service allows you to ask any health-related questions to a doctor who is available 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am to 12pm, Saturday to Sunday (excluding bank holidays). Simply request an appointment through BetterHealth and a doctor will call you back within 6-16 hours (during service hours).

The doctor can help you with many medical conditions such as cold and flu symptoms, infections, anxiety, stress, allergies and provide advice on nonurgent medical conditions. They can also issue prescriptions if required.

Online physiotherapy consultations

Do you or a member of your family have muscle pain or suffer from joint problems?

This service allows you speak to an experienced physiotherapist who is available 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays). Simply request an appointment through BetterHealth and a physiotherapist will call you back within 2 to 4 days (during service hours).

The physiotherapist will use a holistic approach to help your recovery, by combining physiotherapy, fitness, and emotional wellbeing for long-term improvements. They’ll also show you how to access a tailored rehabilitative exercise portal, which allows you to track your progress and recovery, working towards your desired goals.

Online mental health counselling

Do you or a member of your family need advice about your mental health and wellbeing?

This service allows you to speak to a psychologist who is available 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays). Simply request an appointment through BetterHealth and a psychologist will call you back within 2 to 4 days (during service hours).

The psychologist will assess your condition, give you a better understanding of your mental health condition, the treatment you need, and help you to navigate the health system.

Want to improve your health and fitness?

Join the Get Fit programme and get a personalised 4 or 8-week online plan. It’s built around a balanced diet and easy-to-follow workouts, created by our team of nutrition experts to help you reach your healthy weight goals.

If you register for these services, you will be transferred to the BetterHealth service. BetterHealth services are provided by Teladoc Health. Terms and conditions apply. Bank of Ireland Life will only share your policy number with Teladoc Health for eligibility purposes. Bank of Ireland Life will never have access to any personal data that you provide within the app or on the portal, Including biometric data to support app security on your device. Teladoc Health will process your information as a separate data controller. While these additional services from BetterHealth are presently available with your policy, Bank of Ireland Life may need to restrict or withdraw access to the services at some time in the future.
