How to Apply
If you’re aged 14 or older
Apply for a 2nd Level current account in a few easy steps by completing an online application form.
You will receive an email following the completion of your application with a link to our upload hub, where you should upload the following documents to complete the application:
- Your current Passport
- A selfie of you holding your Passport
- Parent / legal guardian address (1 piece of address verification documentation dated within the last 6 months)
- If you’re aged 16 or over we will also accept your book-type passport, your driving licence card (Ireland or UK only), your Irish passport card or your EU national identity card
If you’re aged under 14 (i.e. 12 & 13 years)
When you are completing this application form, your parent / legal guardian will need to provide their consent for the account to be opened.
When the application is submitted you and your parent / legal guardian will receive an email with a unique reference number. Your parent / legal guardian can bring the reference number to any Bank of Ireland branch along with the following documentation within 10 days of submitting your application:
- Your current Passport or Birth Cert
- Parent / legal guardian ID (Current Passport or Irish UK/Drivers Licence)
- Parent / legal guardian address (1 piece of address verification documentation dated within the last 6 months)
Please note: If you’re under 18 and do not have a document with your name and address, you can use one from your parent or legal guardian if you live together and share the same address and last name. If the surnames do not match, we may require further documentation, such as your birth cert. We may ask for proof of address in your own name at a later date if you apply for more products with us.
If you don’t have photo ID in your name, please contact your local branch where our advisors can discuss alternative identification options with you.
You must seek your parent’s / legal guardian’s consent before providing us with the address verification belonging to them. You should also provide your parent / legal guardian with a copy of the Bank’s data privacy notice which is included in this application form and which will be emailed to you once your application is submitted.
