As a Parent/Guardian, what do I need to open a Junior Account on 365 online?

All you will need to open an account is

  • 365 online login details
  • A Bank of Ireland current account registered with 365 online.
  • The child’s details e.g. Name, Date of Birth.

What branch will the new Junior account be opened in?

The new account will be registered to the same branch as that of the Parent/Guardian’s own account which is nominated during the account opening process.

How can the child access their new Junior account?

They can lodge or withdraw money in any of our branches around the country. 2ndLevel current accounts allow for the issuance of ATM cards which can be used to lodge or withdraw cash.

How can I as Parent/Guardian transfer money into the Junior Account?

You can transfer money into the new account as you would any other current account e.g.

  • By setting up a Standing Order to the Junior Account
  • By registering the new Junior account as a payee on your 365 online.

How often will a statement be issued on these Junior Accounts?

The account holder will receive a statement once a year.

How do you close the Junior account?

To close the account you can simply write to your branch quoting the account number to be closed.

How will I receive the new account details?

The child named on the account opening request will receive details of their new Junior account by post, this will be sent to the address details we hold on record for the parent/guardian.

Can the new Junior account be registered on 365?

Only 2nd Level current Accounts where the account holder is 16 or older may register to use 365 online and phone. If you meet this criteria register here now. Parents/Guardian cannot register the account for viewing on 365 online.

Will my child receive an ATM or Visa debit card?

Only 2nd Level current Accounts are eligible for an ATM card, you re given the option to request one during the account opening process. Where the account holder is 16 or older a Visa debit card may be applied for with parental consent. Please contact your branch to apply if you wish to apply for a visa debit card.

Please note, Government Duty is payable each year on an ATM card. At present, Bank of Ireland will pay the Government Duty on a second level student current account ATM card without charging it to your account. If we decide in the future to charge Government Duty, we will charge it to your account but we will tell you beforehand (or publish a notice) to let you know.
